For better traction and acceleration, the Ghibli has larger standard rear tires than the E-Class Sedan (275/40R19 vs. 245/45R18). The Ghibli’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the E-Class Sedan (285/35R20 vs. 245/45R18).

The Ghibli’s standard 275/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the E-Class Sedan’s standard 45 series tires. The Ghibli’s optional 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the E 350 Sedan’s optional 40 series tires.

A spare tire isn’t available on the E-Class Sedan; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Ghibli’s wheelbase is 2.3 inches longer than on the E-Class Sedan (118 inches vs. 115.7 inches).
