Both the Artura and the Mercedes AMG GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/45000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The AMG GT’s 4-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The Artura’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (10 vs. 5 years).

McLaren pays for scheduled maintenance on the Artura for 3 years and 27000 miles. McLaren will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 3 visits). Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG GT.

The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 275 more horsepower (691 vs. 416) and 162 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 369) than the Mercedes AMG GT 43’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 222 more horsepower (691 vs. 469) and 15 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 516) than the Mercedes AMG GT 55’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. As tested in Car and Driver the McLaren Artura is faster than the Mercedes AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ 4.0 turbo V8:

In a Car and Driver race course test, the McLaren Artura Spider was clocked 6.3 seconds faster than the Mercedes AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ (164 sec. vs. 170.3 sec.).

The Artura has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (5 out of 10) than the Mercedes AMG GT (4). This means the Artura produces up to 5.2 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Mercedes AMG GT every 15,000 miles.

The Artura stops much shorter than the Mercedes AMG GT:

For better traction and acceleration, the Artura has larger rear tires than the Mercedes AMG GT (295/35R20 vs. 285/40R19).

The Artura’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Mercedes AMG GT 43’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Artura has standard 20-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Mercedes AMG GT 43.

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Artura Coupe handles at 1.08 G’s, while the Mercedes AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ pulls only 1.06 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Artura’s turning circle is 3.9 feet tighter than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (39.3 feet vs. 43.2 feet).

The McLaren Artura may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 1400 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GT.

The Artura is 7.4 inches shorter than the Mercedes AMG GT, making the Artura easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Artura’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Mercedes AMG GT doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Artura offers cargo security. The Mercedes AMG GT’s hatchback body style, non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

The McLaren Artura comes in coupe and convertible bodystyles; the Mercedes AMG GT isn’t available as a convertible.
