Safety

The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Artura offers an optional 360-degree park assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The 12Cilindri only offers a rear monitor.

Both the Artura and the 12Cilindri have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available lane departure warning systems.

Warranty

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/45000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The 12Cilindri’s 3-year basic warranty expires 2 years sooner.

The Artura’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the 12Cilindri’s (10 vs. 3 years).

Reliability

The 12Cilindri’s redline is at 9500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The Artura has a 8500 RPM redline.

Engine

The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 31 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 500) than the 12Cilindri’s 6.5 DOHC V12.

Fuel Economy and Range

The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 11 miles. The 12Cilindri can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Artura’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The Artura has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Suspension and Handling

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

Chassis

The McLaren Artura may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 600 pounds less than the Ferrari 12Cilindri.

The Artura is 7.6 inches shorter than the 12Cilindri, making the Artura easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Ergonomics

The Artura’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 12Cilindri’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Artura offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The 12Cilindri doesn’t offer cornering lights.
