2026 McLaren Artura

Safety

The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Corvette doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Artura offers an optional 360-degree park assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Corvette only offers a rear monitor and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the front or sides.

Both the Artura and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available lane departure warning systems.

Warranty

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/45000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 9000 miles sooner.

The Artura’s corrosion warranty is 4 years and unlimited miles longer than the Corvette’s (10/unlimited vs. 6/100,000).

McLaren pays for scheduled maintenance on the Artura for 3 years and 27000 miles. McLaren will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 3 visits). Chevrolet only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Corvette.

Reliability

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Artura has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Corvette.

Engine

The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 201 more horsepower (691 vs. 490) and 66 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 465) than the Corvette’s standard 6.2 V8. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 196 more horsepower (691 vs. 495) and 61 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 470) than the Corvette Z51’s standard 6.2 V8. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 36 more horsepower (691 vs. 655) than the Corvette E-Ray’s standard 6.2 V8 hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the McLaren Artura is faster than the Corvette Z51 6.2 V8:

Fuel Economy and Range

The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 11 miles. The Corvette has to start its internal combustion engine after only 5 miles.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Artura’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Corvette doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (5 out of 10) than the Chevrolet Corvette (2 to 4). This means the Artura produces up to 20.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corvette every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Artura’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Corvette:

The Artura stops much shorter than the Corvette:

Suspension and Handling

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Corvette doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Artura Coupe handles at 1.08 G’s, while the Corvette Coupe pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Chassis

The Artura is 3.6 inches shorter than the Corvette, making the Artura easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces. The Artura is 8 inches shorter than the Corvette ZR1.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the Artura Coupe is quieter than the Corvette Z06 Z07 Coupe:

57 dB

88 dB

99 dB

Cargo Capacity

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the Artura easier. The Artura’s trunk lift-over height is 20.4 inches, while the Corvette’s liftover is 38.7 inches.

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Artura offers cargo security. The Corvette’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

Ergonomics

If the windows are left open on the Artura the driver can close all of them from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Corvette can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Both the Artura Convertible and Corvette have a standard remote lowering convertible top; however, in case of a sudden change of weather, the Artura Convertible has a standard remote convertible roof that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. The Corvette doesn’t offer a remote closing roof, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

The Artura’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corvette’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Artura offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Corvette doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Artura offers an optional Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Corvette doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
