Safety
Warranty
The Artura comes with a full 5-year/45000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Vanquish’s 3-year basic warranty expires 2 years sooner.
McLaren pays for scheduled maintenance on the Artura for 3 years and 27000 miles. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Vanquish.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 11 miles. The Vanquish can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.
Regenerative brakes improve the Artura’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (5 out of 10) than the Aston Martin Vanquish (2). This means the Artura produces up to 20.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Vanquish every 15,000 miles.
Transmission
The Artura offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Vanquish doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
Suspension and Handling
The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
For better maneuverability, the Artura’s turning circle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Vanquish’s (39.3 feet vs. 41.6 feet).
Chassis
The McLaren Artura may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 900 to 1000 pounds less than the Aston Martin Vanquish.
The Artura is 1 foot, 2 inches shorter than the Vanquish, making the Artura easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The Artura is 5.2 inches narrower than the Vanquish, making the Artura easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.
The Artura’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Vanquish doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
Cargo Capacity
A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the Artura easier. The Artura’s trunk lift-over height is 20.4 inches, while the Vanquish’s liftover is 23.9 inches.
Ergonomics
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Artura offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Vanquish doesn’t offer cornering lights.
