Compare the2025 McLaren 750SVS 2024 Jaguar F-Type

2025 McLaren 750S
2024 Jaguar F-Type

Safety

The McLaren 750S has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Type doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The 750S offers an optional 360 Degree Park Assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The F-Type only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the 750S and the F-Type have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

The 750S comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The F-Type’s 60,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The 750S’ corrosion warranty is 4 years longer than the F-Type’s (10 vs. 6 years).

Engine

The 750S’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 296 more horsepower (740 vs. 444) and 162 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 428) than the F-Type P450’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8. The 750S’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 165 more horsepower (740 vs. 575) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 516) than the F-Type R75’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

As tested in Car and Driver the McLaren 750S is faster than the F-Type R75:

Fuel Economy and Range

The 750S has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The F-Type doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Transmission

The 750S offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The F-Type doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the 750S’ brake rotors are larger than those on the F-Type:

Rear Rotors

The 750S has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The F-Type doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The 750S has standard air brakes, which adjust the Spoiler automatically during high-speed braking in order to shorten stopping distances. The F-Type doesn’t offer air brakes.

The 750S stops much shorter than the F-Type:

Suspension and Handling

The 750S has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The F-Type doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The 750S offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jaguar doesn’t offer an active suspension on the F-Type.

The 750S has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The F-Type doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 750S’ wheelbase is 1.9 inches longer than on the F-Type (105.1 inches vs. 103.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the 750S is 3.7 inches wider in the front than on the F-Type.

The 750S handles at 1.13 G’s, while the F-Type R75 Coupe pulls only 1.00 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The 750S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.9 seconds quicker than the F-Type R75 Coupe (22.5 seconds @ .97 average G’s vs. 24.4 seconds @ .82 average G’s).

Chassis

The McLaren 750S may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 700 to 800 pounds less than the Jaguar F-Type.

The 750S is 11.5 inches shorter in height than the F-Type, making the 750S much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The 750S’ standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The F-Type doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

Ergonomics

In case of a sudden change of weather, the 750S Convertible has a standard remote convertible top that can be raised from a distance to protect the interior of the vehicle from damage. On a hot day the 750S Convertible has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The F-Type doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to run to the car, get in, turn the ignition on and raise the top to prevent the interior from being damaged.

With standard voice command, the 750S offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.
