The Artura’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The R8 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Artura offers an optional 360-degree park assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The R8 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

McLaren will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 3 visits). Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the R8.

The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 109 more horsepower (671 vs. 562) and 125 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 406) than the R8 RWD Performance’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10. The Artura’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid produces 69 more horsepower (671 vs. 602) and 118 lbs.-ft. more torque (531 vs. 413) than the R8 Quattro/GT’s standard 5.2 DOHC V10.

The Artura can travel with zero emissions for 11 miles. The R8 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Artura’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The R8 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (6 out of 10) than the Audi R8 (1). This means the Artura produces up to 45.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the R8 every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the McLaren Artura, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the R8.

The Artura has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The R8’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The R8 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Artura has a much larger trunk than the R8 Coupe (5.3 vs. 4 cubic feet).

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the Artura offers cargo security. The R8’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Artura offers an optional Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The R8 doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
