The McLaren Artura has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F8 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Artura’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The F8 doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Artura offers an optional 360-degree park assist to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The F8 only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Artura and the F8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rear parking sensors.

The Artura comes with a full 5-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The F8’s 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty expires 2 years sooner.

The Artura’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the F8’s (10 vs. 3 years).

On the EPA test cycle the Artura running on electricity gets better mileage than the F8 Tributo (37 city/41 hwy MPGe vs. 15 city/19 hwy).

This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The F8 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the McLaren Artura higher (6 out of 10) than the Ferrari F8 (3). This means the Artura produces up to 23.4 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the F8 every 15,000 miles.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the McLaren Artura, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the F8.

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The Artura has standard Brake Assist to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The F8 doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The Artura has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The F8 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Artura’s entire steering wheel hub sounds the horn, facilitating hitting the horn in an emergency. The F8 has two small spoke buttons. These buttons can be hard to find and reach in an emergency.

The Artura’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The F8 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Artura’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The F8’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Artura’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The F8’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Artura detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The F8 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The Artura offers optional heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the F8.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Artura offers an optional Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The F8 doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

The Artura’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The F8’s navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.
