For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Lamborghini Urus are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW X5 M doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The X5 M doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 5 visits) on the Urus for 2 years and 39000 miles longer than BMW pays for maintenance for the X5 M (5/75000 vs. 3/36,000).

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 40 more horsepower (657 vs. 617) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 553) than the X5 M’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the Urus gets better fuel mileage than the X5 M Competition (14 city/19 hwy vs. 13 city/18 hwy).

For better stopping power the Urus’ front brake rotors are larger than those on the X5 M:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The X5 M doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus offers optional 23-inch wheels. The X5 M’s largest wheels are only 21-inches in the front and 22-inches in the rear.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Urus S’ wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer than on the X5 M (118.2 inches vs. 117 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the X5 M’s (38.7 feet vs. 42 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a 1.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the X5 M (9.8 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 700 pounds less than the BMW X5 M.

The Urus has .2 inches more front headroom, 1.8 inches more front legroom and 2.6 inches more rear legroom than the X5 M.

The Urus’ liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The X5 M’s tailgate’s top part raises up, but the bottom part lowers, getting in the way of loading and making an uneven surface for sliding cargo.

The Urus has a 7716 lbs. towing capacity. The X5 M has no towing capacity.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Urus offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The X5 M doesn’t offer headlight washers.
