To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Urus. But it costs extra on the QX80.

An active infrared night vision system optional on the Urus helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera and near-infrared lights to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The QX80 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

For better protection of the passenger compartment, the Urus uses safety cell construction with a three-dimensional high-strength frame that surrounds the passenger compartment. It provides extra impact protection and a sturdy mounting location for door hardware and side impact beams. The QX80 uses a body-on-frame design, which has no frame members above the floor of the vehicle.

Both the Urus and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Urus comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The QX80’s 60,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance (up to 5 visits) on the Urus for 2 years and 30,000 miles longer than Infiniti pays for maintenance for the QX80 (5/75000 vs. 3/45000).

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 257 more horsepower (657 vs. 400) and 214 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 413) than the QX80’s 5.6 DOHC V8.

As tested in Car and Driver the Lamborghini Urus is faster than the Infiniti QX80:

On the EPA test cycle the Urus gets better fuel mileage than the QX80 AWD (14 city/19 hwy vs. 13 city/19 hwy).

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Lamborghini Urus, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the QX80.

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the QX80:

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The QX80 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Urus stops much shorter than the QX80:

For better traction, the Urus has larger standard tires than the QX80 (F:285/45R21 & R:315/40R21 vs. 275/60R20). The Urus’ optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the QX80 (F:285/35R23 & R:325/30R23 vs. 275/60R20).

The Urus’ standard 285/45R21 front and 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX80 Luxe’s standard 60 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the QX80 Premium Select/Sensory’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the QX80 Luxe. The Urus’ optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels on the QX80 Premium Select/Sensory.

The Urus has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The QX80 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the QX80, which uses coil springs in front. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Urus S offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Infiniti doesn’t offer an active suspension on the QX80.

The Urus has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The QX80’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Urus Performante handles at 1.04 G’s, while the QX80 AWD pulls only .72 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Urus Performante executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 5.5 seconds quicker than the QX80 AWD (23.1 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 28.6 seconds @ .57 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 2.6 feet tighter than the QX80’s (38.7 feet vs. 41.3 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a greater minimum ground clearance than the QX80 (9.8 vs. 9.2 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 to 1250 pounds less than the Infiniti QX80.

The Urus S is 8.9 inches shorter than the QX80, making the Urus easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Urus is 12.1 inches shorter in height than the QX80, making the Urus much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

Unibody construction lowers the Urus’ center of gravity significantly without reducing ground clearance. This contributes to better on the road handling and better off-road performance and stability. In addition, unibody construction makes the chassis stiffer, improving handling and reducing squeaks and rattles. The QX80 doesn’t use unibody construction, but a body-on-frame design.

The Urus has 1 inch more front headroom and 2 inches more front legroom than the QX80.

The Urus has a much larger cargo volume than the QX80 with its rear seat up (21.8 vs. 16.6 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Urus’ available liftgate can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The QX80 doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Urus offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and tachometer readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The QX80 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Urus’ power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The QX80’s parking brake has to be released manually.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Urus to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The QX80 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Urus offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the QX80.

The Urus’ optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Park Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The QX80 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
