Compare the2024 Lamborghini UrusVS 2024 Audi Q8

2024 Lamborghini Urus
2024 Audi Q8

Safety

The Lamborghini Urus has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Q8 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Both the Urus and the Q8 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, rearview cameras, available night vision systems, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

The Urus comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Q8’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

Lamborghini pays for scheduled maintenance on the Urus for 5 years and 75000 miles. Lamborghini will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance (up to 5 visits). Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Q8.

Engine

The Urus’ 4.0 turbo V8 produces 322 more horsepower (657 vs. 335) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 369) than the Q8’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

As tested in Motor Trend the Lamborghini Urus is faster than the Audi Q8:

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Urus’ brake rotors are larger than those on the Q8:

14.8 inches

Rear Rotors

14.6 inches

13.8 inches

The Urus has standard heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Q8 doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The Urus stops much shorter than the Q8:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction and acceleration, the Urus has larger standard rear tires than the Q8 (315/40R21 vs. 285/45R21). The Urus’ optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Q8 (325/30R23 vs. 285/45R21).

The Urus’ standard 315/40R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q8’s standard 45 series tires. The Urus’ optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Q8’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Urus offers optional 23-inch wheels. The Q8’s largest wheels are only 22-inches.

Suspension and Handling

The Urus has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Q8 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Urus uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Q8, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Urus S offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Audi doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Q8.

The Urus S has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Urus’ height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Q8 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The Urus Performante handles at 1.08 G’s, while the Q8 Prestige pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Urus Performante executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 3.8 seconds quicker than the Q8 Prestige (23.1 seconds @ .87 average G’s vs. 26.9 seconds @ .69 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Urus’ turning circle is 4.9 feet tighter than the Q8’s (38.7 feet vs. 43.6 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Urus has a 2.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Q8 (8.4 vs. 5.8 inches), allowing the Urus to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Urus’ minimum ground clearance is 4 inches higher than on the Q8 (9.8 vs. 5.8 inches).

Chassis

The Lamborghini Urus may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 300 pounds less than the Audi Q8.
